Gothic Symbol Matrix.

Gothic Symbol Matrix 2008.
Pencil and ink.
Completed in just under 6 hours.
First I drew the grid and then the letters G-O-T-H-I-C from the Gothic Alphabet.
I drew the letters in pencil then went over them with ink when I was happy with their shape.
The other squares in the grid are populated with adaptations of symbols found in an old encyclopedia.

This is a an adaptation of GRAFFITI MOON.

Six months down the line. (300807)

And the graffiti is still shining,

especially during a New Moon.

.....cold February morning, very foggy......

I added a discarded pizza tray this time around.

A Stone Circle and the Pylon.

Here is another image of a Pylon situated near a Stone Circle.

The circle of stones will not appear on any map because it is a modern landscape feature, with no historical significance. However, it is still a series of boulders set down in a circle.......

Here's a photograph of my two paintings of St. Mary's church and the pylon. Summer 2011.
I guess you could call it a diptych.
I used household emulsion tester pots and therefore I was limited with my colour pallate.

1. Crescent Mary.

A pencil sketch. Crescent moon, pylon, bridge and St Mary's church. There's a lot going on in this one. Ceri says it looks like a cell.

2. India Tower.

This geometric drawing is based upon the architectural features of a building. India Tower (previously known as Park Hyatt Tower) is a supertall skyscraper under construction in Mumbai, Maharashtra and will be one of the tallest and greenest buildings in India once completed.

3. Sketchbook #93.

Two images culled from my Farnham Art College Sketchbook 1993.

The first image is titled, 'Shop & Bin' and is based upon an urban facade with street furniture. Collage. The second collage is titled, 'The Swimming Pool Library.' Inspired by a novel by Alan Hollinghurst. Collage. I did a lot of swimming at the time.

4. The Spire of St Thomas.

A pencil sketch of the spire. A preliminary study for another work. Finished? The architects name eludes me.

5. Twin Towers.

A geometric study of the WTC Twin Towers and surrounding architectural features. Namely the 'trident'.
